NFL Teams fill their Practice Squads for the 2009 Season

Indianapolis Colts RB Mike Hart was one of many younger NFL players getting a second chance as they were signed to their team’s practice squad

NFL Cut Day can be gut-wrenching for many players around the league as player’s careers can pass by them in an instant.  But after NFL teams completed their roster cuts on Saturday (September 5th) getting down to 53 players, they were able to extend lifelines to several younger players on Sunday.  Teams started adding players to their 8-player practice squad roster.

Though the practice squad does not have the glitz of an NFL team’s regular season roster, players can still practice with the team, are eligible to be signed to another team’s active roster and are paid approximately $5,200 dollars per week.

  1. This good. five grand aweek is not bad. You still get to practice your trade. I can’t wait. The season will begin.
