High-energy defensive player Chris Wilson is the latest free agent to join the Eagles’ growing nest.
Though everyone has been constantly focusing on Eagles backup QB Vince Young’s “Dream Team” statement. If the 2011 Eagles are going to end Philly’s over 50-year football championship drought they are going to need “glue” players too.
Recently the Eagles brought into the fold a player who is hoping to be the “Ike Reese” of the 2011 Birds, former Redskins LB/DE Chris Wilson (6’4, 247). Any huge Eagles fan will tell you in 2004, Reese was a mainstay on all special teams and also a capable veteran defensive fill-in for the 2004 Super Bowl bound team.
Taking It to the House believes that Wilson can have the same impact for Andy Reid’s latest squad. The Flint, Michigan native, who attended Northwood University, is an intense competitor that will do whatever it takes to win. The 29-year old linebacker has a nose for the ball as shown by his 2 forced fumbles during the 2010 season.
Also look for the former CFL Grey Cup Champion — with 2006 BC Lions — to rush the passer as he can put his hand in the dirt too (6 career sacks including four in his NFL rookie season of 2007).
On his first official day as an Eagle, Wilson was gracious enough to talk to our own Matt Lombardo and his co-host Pat Gallen on 97.3 ESPN – Atlantic City, NJ
